Caring for your piece

Your stained glass piece should last a lifetime with minimal maintenance.

Display

Hang your piece using a hook or mount that is securely affixed to the window frame, ceiling, or wall.  Suction cup and adhesive hangers, even high-quality ones, can fail and stained glass is fragile.  If you intend on displaying your piece outside it is recommended to bring it in for inclement weather.  Rain, wind and extreme temperature fluctuations may cause damage, especially over time.

Cleaning

A soft, dry (or slightly damp) cloth should be sufficient to remove dust.  Do not use chemicals or abrasives on your piece as these will damage the finish.  If you encounter more severe dirt and grime a gentle scrubbing with a soft toothbrush and mild dish soap is unlikely to damage the patina.  Make sure to rinse and dry it thoroughly afterward.

Finish

Every piece is finished with Howard Feed-n-Wax, a Carnauba and Beeswax polish.  This is not necessary to preserve your piece but does improve it's luster and protects the patina.  You may reapply, as instructed on the bottle, after any deep cleaning to restore the finish.  Howard is widely available online and at many retailers.  Never use any wax polishes that contain abrasives as they will strip the patina.
